Cara is a Socially Engaged Artist, based in the South Wales Valleys. Cara practices arts in many forms and disciplines and embraces the experimentation process of new methods and materials. Cara enjoys the therapeutic effects of using natural materials, and working with textiles. In her own multi-media arts practice, Cara draws on many points of inspiration, often from the natural world, fantasy, people and mental health, frequently finding an interrelation between her disciplines.
Cara's freelance roles include:
- Multi-media Artist;
- Inclusive Arts facilitator and Community Artist (Chubby Sheep Studio);
- Face Painter and Body Artist (Phat Faces).
Cara has worked in Youth and Community roles for over 20 years before adding creative and therapeutic arts facilitation for health and wellbeing to her range of professional skills.
Inspired by Welsh myths, legends and stories told to me by local people, I have created a mini sculpture trail in Ynysangharad Park. There are five installations in total to find, and each is accompanied by QR codes that link to audio-description (and text transcripts) of the sculptures and their story.
