Artist Statement

I work with colours, patterns, lines, composition, textiles, tactiles, stories, connections, nature. I work with all communities but are particularly drawn to people recovering from addiction. I have witnessed how art and creativity can ignite the tiniest of sparks within a person to believe in their capacity for change.



I like colour because of the emotional, universal joy I receive from it. It is innate, visceral and crosses all language. I like patterns as we are wired to look for patterns as survival, they would have communicated a change in our environment and possible danger. Our brain automatically looks for patterns in puzzles, it challenges, seeks, and follows. My love for textiles is the same but sensory, I need to touch, to feel, to communicate the lines and composition, filling a space, fitting a pattern, framing, organising, structuring, ultimately to feel safe and contained.

I want people who experience my work to enjoy the stimulation, take pleasure from colour, rise to the challenge, be inquisitive, feel, follow the pattern, experience, the tactility, enjoy the experience. To create a little “pocket” in their busy lives.

Rwy'n gweithio gyda lliwiau, patrymau, llinellau, cyfansoddiad, tecstilau, straeon, cysylltiadau, natur. Rwy'n gweithio gyda phob cymuned ond rwy'n cael fy nenu'n arbennig at bobl sy'n gwella o ddibyniaeth. Rwyf wedi gweld sut y gall celf a chreadigrwydd danio'r sbardun lleiaf mewn unigolyn i gredu yn ei allu i newid.

Rwy'n hoffi lliw oherwydd y llawenydd emosiynol, cyffredinol mae’n ei roi i mi. Mae'n gynhenid, o bwll y galon, ac yn croesi pob iaith. Rwy'n hoffi patrymau gan ein bod ni wedi ein cyflyru i chwilio am batrymau fel ffordd o oroesi. Fe fydden nhw wedi cyfleu newid yn ein hamgylchedd a pherygl posibl. Mae ein hymennydd yn chwilio am batrymau mewn posau yn awtomatig, mae'n herio, yn ceisio, ac yn dilyn. Mae fy nghariad at decstilau yr un fath ond yn synhwyraidd, mae angen i mi gyffwrdd, teimlo, cyfleu'r llinellau a'r cyfansoddiad, llenwi gofod, ffitio patrwm, fframio, trefnu, strwythuro, er mwyn teimlo yn y pen draw fy mod yn ddiogel ac wedi fy nghynnwys.

Rwyf am i bobl sy'n profi fy ngwaith fwynhau'r ysgogiad, cael pleser o liw, ymateb i'r her, bod yn chwilfrydig, teimlo, dilyn y patrwm, profi, yr hydeimledd, mwynhau'r profiad. Creu “poced” fach yn eu bywydau prysur.
