.We are sad to announce this year's Christmas events organised by the Town Council have been cancelled due to the on-going circumstances surrounding Coronavirus and in line with Welsh Government Guidelines.

The cancelled events are the Christmas Switching On event which was due to take place on Saturday 14th November, the Mayor's Charity Concert on Saturday 5th December and Santa's Grotto in the Pontypridd Market throughout December.

This is the first time in over 40 years that we have had to take a decision like this and we are so disappointed as we know how much these events mean to the people of all ages in Pontypridd and surrounding communities.

This year we have invested in all new Christmas lights for Pontypridd Town Centre which will be put up as normal and of course the Christmas tree. We are looking into other ways you can watch and enjoy the lights being switched on this year so please keep checking website and social media for updates!

Councillor Loretta Tomkinson, Town Mayor said: "We have made this decision with a very heavy heart as we know this will be so disappointing especially for the children but the most important consideration is people's health and well-being".
