Within my artwork, I want to generate a sense of warmth and happiness. I’ve found this fits perfectly with my love for all things yellow which has now become my signature colour. My most recent interest over the past year has been developing skills in illustration. I am largely influenced by people’s stories and have a soft spot for people and their passions. In everything I do, collaboration is key. I want people to feel that there is a shared sense of ownership and that they are as vital as everyone else who is involved in the project. I like to create a safe space to explore our artistic identity together.

The window display for the Art Trail is a celebration of the book ‘Mwg’s Little Changes for a Greener Ponty’, created in collaboration with Young Friends of the Earth, Pontypridd. This book was directly informed by the group’s ideas for ways we can be more eco-friendly, specifically in Pontypridd, with characters they felt should voice this message. The book follows the main character, Mwg, (pronounced “Moog”, meaning ‘smoke’ in Welsh), on her journey around Ponty, and her interaction with friends that, in-turn, demonstrate the little changes we can make to promote a more sustainable future. In-keeping with this theme, the window display is completely made with used cardboard sourced from local independent businesses.

In addition to Young Friends of the Earth Pontypridd, I would like to thank Storyville Books for hosting the work for the Art Trail, and to Pete’s Shop for hosting the workshop with the Young Friends of the Earth Pontypridd.
