Artist Statement

As a multidisciplinary artist and facilitator, my creative practice revolves around exploring fantasy through illustration. With a deep interest in narrative and world-building, I craft visual stories that allow both myself and the viewer to journey into other worlds. 

The immersive nature of these worlds encourages exploration, wonder, and a reconnection to our collective sense of imagination.While my personal art practice invites participation to varying degrees, I also facilitate workshops designed to empower others to engage with their imagination and foster a sense of play.

I hope by inspiring a new generation to tap into the fantastical, I can support participants to push the limits of what feels possible, provide escapist respite when needed and shed the shackles of self-consciousness towards acceptance of their most creative selves. 

With this art piece, I invite you into a playful journey of exploration and fantasy through a treasure hunt experience set along Mill Street. By using cryptograms to unlock combination boxes, I encourage problem-solving, curiosity, and a sense of discovery. Each box portrays the values that Zucco holds dear and encourages you to think about what those values could mean to you personally. 

In collaboration with Men’s Sheds, I designed and built a special bench - a throne - that serves as a reward and symbol of achievement for those who complete the hunt. The bench will also be a lasting legacy for Zucco's and Mill Street, celebrating community spirit.

Through this project, I aim to transform familiar places into a realm of mystery and create a fun and exciting experience for viewers.
