Artist Statement

I am a contemporary visual artist and creative arts facilitator based in South Wales. I love to work in a diverse range of medias, from fine art, abstract painting, and printmaking to 3d sculptures, crochet and producing handmade gifts. Expressing my art through painting, abstract and sculpting allows my art to speak for itself and see what the viewers think of what my art is about and how they feel about it. I am often inspired by the things around me through texture, tactile and sound, to make my art become free and alive through the viewers feelings. I am interested in exploring new ranges and challenges of arts, crafts and facilitation in individuals who are neurodivergent and want to empower and inspire those with the ability of creativity and understanding of what art is meant to be.

In preparation for this weekend's Art Trail, I've been working on a piece called Narrative of Perspectives. This artwork reflects how I see Pontypridd, through my camera lens and adventures. Inspired by the town's unique architecture, especially the intricate details on its historic buildings. These elements capture the essence of Pontypridd and have become central to my creative process. Another source of inspiration is Cortile Coffee, where moments of connection and relaxation unfold daily. Conversations with customers over a cup of coffee have provided rich stories and perspectives that I have woven into my work. The artwork itself is a vintage shelf display featuring various glass jars and metal spoons, each etched by hand using a Dremel tool. Every item showcases a unique design, representing different stories and moments from the community. Hanging from the side window of the coffee shop, the acrylic panel will catch the eye of those passing by, offering a glimpse into the stories captured within. It's an invitation to see Pontypridd through a different lens, one that highlights the beauty in everyday details and shared experiences.
